Just wanted to share some good news: We are rapidly nearing the finish line for manufacturing 1,550 copies of Song for War. Check out the nifty images below from our manufacturing partner, Hero Time. And right around the next corner: freight and fulfillment.

Charging Cards Coming Up | Fulfillment, Taxes, Pre-Orders

Hello Song for War team!
Heads up: In mid-August, we will charge the cards on file in Backer Kit for fulfillment, sales tax, and post-KS campaign pre-orders of Song for War. This charge will appear on your bank statement as INVICTA REX GAMES. In addition to this update, you will receive an email from Backer Kit notifying you 48 hours prior to the card being charged.
Please make sure you have the correct card information in Backer Kit. If any issues arise with your payment, you’ll receive an email from Backer Kit letting you know to correct your payment information.
Want to review your payment info? Request your survey using the Backer Kit project page link https://song-for-war-mediterranean-theater-0.backerkit.com/. You will receive an email from BackerKit with a link to your survey.
Taxes: We will charge the appropriate sales tax when charging the cards. Backers located in the US will be charged tax where required, in alignment with state guidelines. Backers in the UK and EU will be charged the country VAT %. Backers in Canada, Japan, Norway, Taiwan, Turkey and Switzerland will not be charged through Backer Kit – rather, backers in these countries will be required to pay VAT and other local mandated fees upon receipt of the game once it arrives in country. (NOTE: we will aim to send backers in these countries an individual email for an additional notice). Backers in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore will not be charged tax due to not meeting local threshold requirements. Should this approach change in the coming days we will be sure to post a follow up update here in Kickstarter.
Last but not least: We’re closing the pre-order page on Backer Kit toward the end of August. We will be moving to an online platform in the Fall and will be sure to let you all know!

1 Million+ Components, EPR, and Delivery News

Hello Song for War team!
Latest progress and timing from the front lines:
- The manufacturing machines are at full steam. Our manufacturing partner, Hero Time, is hard at work producing more than 1 MILLION components that will be packaged into games and shipped worldwide to backers in 32 countries. We are producing 1,550 games in this first manufacturing run, with 700+ components in each copy of Song for War: Mediterranean Theater and 400+ components in each copy of Song for War: Mediterranean Operations.
- We’re aligning with Extended Producer Responsibility / environmental and safety requirements. Song for War consists of paper, cardboard, and wood, with reduced plastic (unit trays, component bags, and dice). We are working with an outside provider to align with various EPR schemes in countries across Europe and monitoring other requirements in the US and other jurisdictions. We are working with Hero Time and a separate third-party to perform a battery of product safety tests and driving toward alignment with the updated General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) of the EU.
- Delivery timeline is still in step with the May 29th KS update. We are on track with the updated timeline that I shared in the May 29th Kickstarter Update. Manufacturing is in full process, immediately after which global freight and fulfillment get moving with games reaching backers’ game tables in September-October depending on global location. The NEXT STEP to watch for is charging credit cards for shipping and taxes – please keep an eye out for our next KS update in July and your inboxes from BackerKit which will provide more helpful info on that.

Locking Orders In Backer Kit Coming Up!!

Things are charging forward at pace! Manufacturing is in full swing, and our freight and fulfillment partners are ready to hit the ground running.
The next step is locking down orders in the pledge manager, BackerKit.
The process is straightforward. This week: You will receive a lock-order email from BackerKit confirming your reward (your copy or copies of Song for War) and the opportunity to make changes in your survey responses. If you pledged during the Kickstarter (KS) and completed the Backer Kit survey sent to you directly after the campaign, you are already good to go! So far, 93% of KS backers have completed their survey, so most of you should already be set. If you pre-ordered Song for War after the KS campaign closed, you did not receive a survey but you’re also good to go. Your orders will be locked with no action on your part. 48 hours after receiving the BackerKit lock order email, all orders will be locked.
Important: Locking an order simply “locks in” your reward. You will still be able to update payment info or your shipping address after the order is locked. We also will send out future notifications about processing payment and locking addresses as we get closer to shipping.

Progress + Updated Delivery Estimate

Hello Song for War Team!
A few weeks back we promised to share an updated, estimated timeline for when the games will reach doorsteps to backers worldwide. Below is a basic chart showing where things stand.
We're making solid progress - manufacturing, freight, fulfillment, tax reporting, environmental standards, regulatory compliance, and other areas - and will be sure to share more concrete dates as the pieces continue to fall into place. As you know, there are a lot of moving parts so the timing below is not final and may shift further in the coming days.
