Hi Song for War team!
Things are charging forward at pace! Manufacturing is in full swing, and our freight and fulfillment partners are ready to hit the ground running.
The next step is locking down orders in the pledge manager, BackerKit.
The process is straightforward. This week: You will receive a lock-order email from BackerKit confirming your reward (your copy or copies of Song for War) and the opportunity to make changes in your survey responses. If you pledged during the Kickstarter (KS) and completed the Backer Kit survey sent to you directly after the campaign, you are already good to go! So far, 93% of KS backers have completed their survey, so most of you should already be set. If you pre-ordered Song for War after the KS campaign closed, you did not receive a survey but you’re also good to go. Your orders will be locked with no action on your part. 48 hours after receiving the BackerKit lock order email, all orders will be locked.
Important: Locking an order simply “locks in” your reward. You will still be able to update payment info or your shipping address after the order is locked. We also will send out future notifications about processing payment and locking addresses as we get closer to shipping.
Lost your survey or just want to take another look at your survey? No problem! Go to our Backe Kit page at https://song-for-war-mediterranean-theater-0.backerkit.com/ and request a link to your survey. You will receive an email from BackerKit support with a link to your survey.
If you have any questions, drop a note in the KS comments here or email us directly at [email protected]
Thank you for all your support!

Hello Song for War Team!
A few weeks back we promised to share an updated, estimated timeline for when the games will reach doorsteps to backers worldwide. Below is a basic chart showing where things stand.
We're making solid progress - manufacturing, freight, fulfillment, tax reporting, environmental standards, regulatory compliance, and other areas - and will be sure to share more concrete dates as the pieces continue to fall into place. As you know, there are a lot of moving parts so the timing below is not final and may shift further in the coming days. However, as always, we will be proactive and transparent with you at every step of the way. If you have any questions, drop us a note here in the KS update or email us directly at [email protected].
The next update regarding locking orders (rewards) in Backer Kit will arrive soon - stay tuned.
Thank you again for all of your support. We cannot express how excited we are to have gamers from around the world playing Song for War in 2026!

Stretch Goals and New Rule Book Ready!
– Mon, May 04, 2026 at 05:35:56 PM
Hi Song for War team!
Wanted to share good news on two fronts: The game-play details of the two completed stretch goals along with an updated (and downloadable!) rule book with the new short-play scenarios, 6-player commander game and other post-campaign improvements are ready.
Let’s dig in…
Unlocked Stretch Goal 1: Short-Play Scenarios. Song for War includes up to 5 short-play scenarios: 2 played on the Mediterranean Theater game board and 3 on the Mediterranean Operations board (also on the back side of the Theater board). The short-play scenarios are best suited for 2 players. However, they can be played as a single player in a simulated game (no solo bot included). Players can also expand most scenarios for a 3-4 player game.
-
Axis Siege of Tobruk (1941): Locked in a back-and-forth contest for North Africa, Axis forces besiege the port city of Tobruk. Battle-ready Allies are dug in, including Australia’s Rats of Tobruk, but can they withstand the coming onslaught?
- Game Board: Mediterranean Operations – North Africa
- Number of players: 1-4 (2 recommended)
- Approximate play time: 30-45 minutes
-
Axis Invasion of Crete (1941): Emboldened by success in Greece, the Axis launches Operation Mercury to invade Crete and pursue the retreating Allies. German paratroopers lead the war's first large-scale airborne invasion, but will the risks pay off?
- Game Board: Mediterranean Theater
- Number of players: 1-2 (2 recommended)
- Approximate play time: 20-45 minutes
-
Allied Invasion of Sicily (1943): With North Africa in Allied hands, the US and Great Britain team up for Operation Husky to wrest Sicily from Axis control. Will the daring campaign succeed, or will the Allied momentum stall?
- Game Board: Mediterranean Theater
- Number of players: 1-4 (2 recommended)
- Approximate play time: 30-45 minutes
-
Allied Landing at Salerno (1943): Eager to capitalize on the successful invasion of Sicily, the Allies launch Operation Avalanche to gain a foothold in Axis-held Italy. Will they unseat the entrenched Germans, or will the Allied hopes for southern Europe be dashed?
- Game Board: Mediterranean Operations – Italy
- Number of players: 1-4 (2 recommended)
- Approximate play time: 30-60 minutes
-
Battle of Monte Cassino (1944): Retreating German forces set up bristling defensive lines across central Italy to repel the northern advance of the Allies. The road to Rome hangs in the balance but will the battle-weary Allies punch through?
- Game Board: Mediterranean Operations – Italy
- Number of players: 1-4 (2 recommended)
- Approximate play time: 30-75 minutes
Unlocked Stretch Goal 2: 6-Player Commander Game. Best for the Mediterranean Theater but playable in any scenario, the 6-player format is a game of intense collaboration. Players are divided into 2 teams for a 3 vs. 3 match-up. Each player chooses command of 1 Unit Type for its side: Air, Sea, or Land. The Axis commanders for Air, Sea, and Land act as team 1, facing off against the Allied commanders for Air, Sea, and Land as team 2. In this way, each player commands only 1 Unit Type (Air, Sea, or Land) for its respective side. For example, the Axis Land commander controls all German (red) and Italian (yellow) Land Units. Teammates must collaborate closely to move units, declare and conduct battles, remove casualties, perform resupply, and other game actions.
Each player commander receives a player aid specific to its side's Unit Type and selects a special ability at game start. Here’s an example of the Axis Land commander player aid.
Updated Downloadable Rule Book. Following reviewer input and recommendations from the Kickstarter campaign, we refreshed the rule book end-to-end. We also included the starting units and victory conditions for the short scenarios, rules for the 6-player commander game, and other various enhancements. Click on the image below to download a copy - or just visit the games page on invctarex.com!
Thank you to backers worldwide for your support! We will continue to keep you updated on all Song for War related news.

Latest News & Updated Delivery Timing
– Sun, Mar 29, 2026 at 07:45:35 PM
Hi Song for War team!
2026 has been busy and productive in delivering Song for War to backers worldwide and, thanks to you, we continue to pick up new orders every week. Here's all the latest news, including updated delivery timing, with special attention to our EU-based backers.
- Manufacturing: The first round of samples is complete and files are updated. The manufacturer suggested that we conduct a second round of samples prior to moving to full production, and we concur with this recommendation. While this will push our delivery timeline back by several weeks, we will do all we can to help make up time where we can.
- Packaging and Safety: When delivering to 30+ countries, it’s important to work within the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements for packaging and recycling in various jurisdictions as well as the EU’s General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) – all of which impact the information on the box label. We’re working with advisors to help ensure compliance and labeling that’s ready to go for full production.
- Fulfillment and Taxes: We’re assessing potential hubs in the US and Europe for fulfillment, working with our fulfillment partner. In addition, we’re tackling VAT requirements for import and sales taxes involving the UK and EU. The process can be complex, even for a small tabletop provider like ours. We're making good progress but it may impact delivery timing.
- Updated Delivery Timing: Given the above, we expect some delays in our timing for delivery of the game. We will have a clearer picture of the details in the coming weeks as the moving parts take shape – and will take full advantage of any opportunities to make up time along the way. As always, we will communicate with you early and with clear transparency at every step. We are incredibly grateful to each of you and excited to bring Song for War to your game table! Thank you for your support and patience.

And there is more good news! We recently selected proven provider Quartermaster Logistics for fulfillment, shipping, and warehousing support. That way, we can help ensure Song for War will be in good hands as it makes its way to gaming tables around the world.
